Help Janet get game-changing stroke treatment...
Donation protected
On the 30th of December 2009, Janet's life changed in a blink of an eye. On holiday in Pambula, Janet had a severe stroke that left her right arm paralysed, her right leg with restricted movement and a host of other stroke-related issues. She has since undertaken countless hours of rehab, including physio, occupational and speech therapies. She continues to face daily challenges, which she meets in true Janet style - with a smile and an enormous can-do attitude.
Janet has been accepted into a clinical trial at Griffith University, administering perispinal etanercept to improve mobility and pain relief in those who have suffered from a stroke. It is a placebo-controlled trial, so her chance of receiving the treatment is 50% - pretty good odds! Janet is also entitled to an additional treatment at the end of the trial, regardless of which experimental group she is assigned to. So worst case is she will receive at least one dose of this potentially life-changing medication.
To get Janet to the Gold Coast, she needs to pay for airfares, transfers and accommodation, for herself and a companion. The final treatment is also $955 out of pocket. These charges amount to well over $5,000 for the three treatments. If you could help Janet get to the Gold Coast by donating any amount, I know she would be thrilled and extremely grateful.
