<div>My name is Olivia, and I’m creating this fundraiser for my little brother, Jamie - the most loving, funny, and kind hearted person you could ever meet. Jamie has spent most of this year in and out of hospital, battling one setback after another. What started as small symptoms back in January turned into months of tests, misdiagnoses, and many hospital stays. After what has felt like an endless fight, jamie has been diagnosed with <strong>Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytis (HLH). </strong>A rare and life threatening condition where the immune system becomes overactive and starts attacking the body’s own healthy cells.

<div>It’s been the toughest year of Jamie’s life, and honestly, the hardest time our family has faced since he was little and facing another life threatening health condition. Watching his happiness fade and his spark dim as he spends weeks after week in a hospital bed has broken all of our hearts. But even ok his worst days, Jamie still manages a <em>”half assed”  </em>smile, a joke, or a “love you” that reminds us of just how strong and beautiful his spirit is.

<div>HLH treatment is long, exhausting, and full of many not so fun side effects. The medication caused severe fatigue and a huge increase in appetite, and it’s taken a toll both physically and emotionally on Jamie. Jamie just wants to come home, to be surrounded by the people and things that make him feel like himself again.

<div>We’ve taken as much time off work as we can to be by his side, but it’s reached the point where we simply cannot afford to keep living this way without some help. Covering the costs of his treatment, medication, extra meals (hospital food is shit), and day to day expenses like fuel to get to and from the hospital multiple times a day has become almost impossible.

<div>This go fund me was actually suggested to me months ago by Jamie’s amazing friends, but I kept saying no, not wanting to ask for help because that would make it all real. Now, after months of doing everything we can, we’ve realised it’s going to be incredibly hard to continue down this path without support that is incredibly hard for anyone in my family to ask for (we’re all really stubborn, sorry mum but it’s true).
