<div>I am Jackson Heath, a junior studying criminology at Christopher Newport University. This summer, I have been given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study in Denmark and Norway as part of my criminology studies. I will be visiting prisons vastly different than the ones in America and learning how they function as vessels of incarceration, social power, and the broader legal system.

<div>I've already covered on my own the ticket to Europe and have planned carefully to be able to make this trip possible. However, due to rises in travel costs and the government shutdowns (as I am a member of the US armed forces), the return flight has become far more expensive than I had anticipated and is something I'm struggling to afford on my own.

<div>This GoFundMe is to help me buy a one-way ticket back to the United States and help pay for travel expenses, so that I can return home, continue my studies, and move forward with my academic and professional goals.
