Jackie Harms, an 87-year-old widow living in Lakewood, NJ, is facing a difficult and uncertain transition. After 17 years in her apartment, she has been told she must move out by January 2026 because her building is being sold. Jackie is visually impaired and lives alone, with no family nearby to help her through this challenging time. She relies solely on her Social Security income, which makes finding and affording a new place to live especially hard.

 Jackie is currently on several wait lists for senior living residences in her area, but until a spot opens up, she will need to pack up her apartment and put her belongings in storage. Without a car or local support, the logistics and costs of moving are overwhelming. She needs help covering the expenses for packing, storage, and eventually retrieving her things when she finds a new home.

 I met Jackie years ago through my Facebook group for dog owners, when I helped her care for her beloved dog, Tutu. Our friendship grew quickly, and we have stayed close ever since. Jackie has always been kind and generous, opening her home to me when I needed a place to stay. Now, I want to be there for her in her time of need.
