My friend Issac Wamani has a hard life. He lives in a small village in Uganda, hours from the nearest city. I got to know him when a Jewish organization brought him to the States to work at Camp Ramah. He became friends with some families in the Riverdale community and shared what his culture and community is like. His Jewish community in Uganda celebrates the Sabbath, Holidays and keep many Jewish customs. The family live a primitive life and must trek a distance to obtain water. They have to grow their own food and build their own homes. His family are completely unfamiliar with modern conveniences. Isaac was given the opportunity to go to University and is looking for work in graphic design. In the meantime, as the eldest , he has has to take care of his siblings. Both of his parents have passed away. He is trying to put his siblings through school and needs money for tuition and books. His sisters have also crocheted kippot and would like to sell them in NY. We're exploring ways to have them shipped here. While my family has helped him over the years, we can only help so much. A small donation can go a long way in Uganda.
