Help Isabel keep her medicinal farm!
Donation protected
After two decades spent farming a small plot of land at the base of the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains in Catalina, AZ, Isabel Lizarazu is facing the possibility of losing the land she has called home for over 20 years.
This land has been the home base of her healing work, a source for important research, seed collecting, workshops, and ceremonies.
The past 40 years Isabel spent traveling the world gathering knowledge and awakening to the power of different medicinal plants and foods, learning and sharing from doctors, healers, and shamans from all corners of the globe, including in her native homeland of Bolivia.
She honed her skills as an organic farmer and seed collector after working with Gabriel Howearth, a well-known ‘bioneer,’ seed-banker and avid collector of diverse organic vegetable, grain, legume and medicinal plants from all different regions of the world. In 2001 she was part of a Federal Governmental Program that helped bring medicinal Chinese plants and seeds to the U.S. She has been collecting, growing, researching and introducing a multitude of biodiverse medicinal plants and trees from China, India and South America ever since.
The farm has been a place where students, community members, herbologists and small business owners have come to visit and participate in workshops to learn about the powers of these medicinal plants as well as things like rainwater harvesting and desert gardening. Students from Arizona Acupuncture School, Arbico Organics the community, and more have enjoyed learning and sharing here directly with the plants.
After a serious car accident in 2008, Isabel’s income and ability to work reduced drastically. It has taken almost 12 years to get back to a place where she could continue working full-time as an acupuncturist and return to a better place financially. Unfortunately, the time spent recovering did not allow for her to be able to save enough money to afford the down payment required to purchase the land, and she needs help.
She needs to raise $ 25,000 to be able to keep the land by the end of November 2022 or may lose the farm forever. She hopes to create a safe space for the community to continue her healing work and educate future generations. Please donate what you can. Thank you!
