The story of Ion Tarita starts in 2003 when he was only 21 years old. In a very short time period and without any known reason his ability to see started to decrease, and it worsens all the way down to 0.01%, meaning that the only things he can distinguish are shadows. He was diagnosed with partial atrophy of the optical nerve. During that time there was no treatment, the medicine could only stop the further spread of the disease. For the last two decades, Ion changed his life and tried to adapt to live with this disability since there was no cure. He found new passions like soccer and Judo. Since 2013 he has been a member of the soccer national team of the Republic of Moldova, dedicated to athletes with reduced ability to see. Ion recently discovered the Center for Ocular and Plastic surgery of Ufa, Russia. Doctors have big promises that they could significantly improve his ability to see. This will mean that Ion’s life could be changed around. He could be able to take care of himself, commute without special assistance, and live a normal life. We’re asking for everybody’s support, and any donation, to help Ion with his surgery, commute, and rehabilitation.
