Inspire Our Pine Crest Summer School Students!
Silver Spring Cares is proud to support Pine Crest Elementary School and the amazing students who are headed back to Summer School!
After a chaotic year filled with ups and downs (not the least of which was virtual learning!) our local children are headed back to school...in person. Some of our area's most vulnerable children, close to 50% of PCES students receive Free and Reduced Meals Services, which means that about half of the students live at our below the poverty level. Students who are attending summer school at Pine Crest Elementary are enrolling in order to address any learning gaps that may have occurred due to the pandemic.
Our hope is to motivate students as they journey back to school with a bike giveaway for three lucky students in attendance for all their summer sessions. What better inspiration is there than a brand new bike (and helmet) to ride around in style?
"We are grateful for the opportunity to be able to give our bicycles and helmets to students who participate in our summer programming." - Jamila W Denney, PCES Principal
Bikes are very hard to find at the moment, and children's bikes are in especially great demand, but thanks to Silver Cycles in downtown Silver Spring, we've set our sights on three shiny, new bikes and helmets. They're all ready to go, we just need your help to purchase them!
Anything you can give to help us make these bike dreams a reality is so greatly appreciated. Your generosity is the "wheel" deal!
