I am raising my 2-year-old grandson James, whom I am in the process of adopting. After being widowed in 2023, I am doing this alone, and it has been both a joy and a challenge. At 62 years old, I am committed to giving James the best possible start in life, but raising a young child on a fixed income is difficult. The costs of daily care, adoption fees, and childcare add up quickly, and I want to make sure James has a secure and bright future, especially with an older caregiver.
