Help in Recovery...from Vandalism

Tax deductible
The Situation

Copper thieves vandalized Cancer Support Community Central Ohio. This destructive act left the charity that provides life-changing support services and education to cancer survivors with no air conditioning during one of the hottest periods of the Spring. The thieves may have gotten only about $20 of copper, but they left the organization with $30,000 in repairs and modifications, practically none of which was covered by insurance.

Cancer Support Community is looking to the community to help raise the funds so that we can focus our resources on helping those affected by cancer, including patients, survivors, family, friends and caregivers.

 The Goal

Our goal is to raise $30,000 to cover not only the repair of the air conditioning units, but also the security structure to protect them from theft and vandalism in the future.

GOAL UPDATE: Thank you to participants at this year’s Charity Golf Outing for committing $5,030 to help offset the costs of replacing our air conditioners! Your generous support allows us to focus our resources on programs and services for people impacted by cancer. Our online goal has been updated to reflect the offline donations. It is now $24,970.

 How you can help

As a community-minded organization, we know that it takes a village. We will be extremely grateful for any amount that you can extend to help us get past this unfortunate situation, and shift our full attention and resources back to supporting all those affected by cancer, at no cost.

Who is Cancer Support Community Central Ohio?

Our mission is to ensure that all people affected by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community.

Our programs and services are always provided at no cost to ensure that we do not increase the financial burden of those already coping with life-threatening issues. We serve all people with cancer—any diagnosis, any stage—and their families, friends and caregivers. We offer an environment that promotes a sense of community, so our participants can share, learn and improve their quality of life.

All our more than 65 monthly programs are led by licensed mental health professionals or subject matter experts who are specifically trained in Cancer Support Community philosophy, methodology and administration. Cancer Support Community provides only programs that are both purposeful and proven to be effective by sound research.

Cancer Support Community Central Ohio is the local affiliate for the largest professionally led nonprofit network of cancer support worldwide. The Cancer Support Community global network of 175 locations, health-care partnerships, and satellite locations delivers more than $50 million in free support services, education and resources to more than one million patients and families every year. In January 2018, CSC welcomed Denver-based nonprofit MyLifeLine, a digital community that includes more than 30,000 patients, caregivers, and their supporters that will enable CSC to scale its digital services in an innovative, groundbreaking way.
