Help Improve Maternity Services - Mangoase, Ghana

Hi Everyone,

 

My name is Agnes and I am a maternal health advocate and founder of the GLOMAMA Awards based in the UK, campaigning for improved maternal health and outcomes for all women and their families.

 

On the back of our last campaign where your generosity helped raise over £1000 for children with HIV in Ghana, I have returned to ask for your assistance again.

 

Many of you may know me for the work I do in the maternal health space in the UK, for which I am extremely passionate about. But today I come to you asking for your help in supporting women across the globe in a rural town in Ghana called Mangoase.

 

There is only one maternity facility in Mangoase which can only be accessed by a long bumpy and difficult road. If you are lucky enough to make it there you have to climb steps to enter inside.

 

Imagine having contractions and having to go over bumps and pot holes to make it to the hospital, only to then climb stairs to enter.

 

Once inside, there are minimal facilities, a lack of beds (the beds available need to be upgraded - please see below), a lack of infection prevention tools, a lack of privacy and a lack of support.

 

There is much that needs to be done and the long term objective is to build a new maternity and children’s centre in the village.

 

In the meantime, the money raised through this campaign will assist in buying new beds, redecorating the rooms and provide privacy screens. Any extra funds left over or raised will go towards helping to make the current maternity centre more accessible.

 

There is no amount to small, and if you are unable to support financially please can you share this campaign with your family and friends.
