Husbands Cancer Journey

Life has thrown us a major curveball. We have thought long and hard about putting this out there publicly. In saying that we need all the prayers and support through this difficult time.  As most of you know my husband has been ill for several months. Doctors confirmed last week that he has laryngeal cancer. Its a type of cancer that affects the vocal cords also known as head and neck cancer. So far he has had cameras down his nose and throat, surgery for biopsies, PET scan, CT scan, speech tests, swallow tests with x-rays, blood work, several specialist appointments, and now is in the care of an oncology team. He has emergency oral surgery scheduled for next week, without this being done he cannot move forward with treatment in the weeks to come. Dental insurance is covering 55% which is leaving us with nearly 4 grand out of pocket plus another 4 grand for dentures. He now is unemployed due to illness and because of that he has lost his health insurance as of July 31. Most his tests have been completed after this date. I will and have been taking time off work to be with him. My income will be the only source for our bills on top of all the medical bills rolling in. Its been a very overwhelming and scary road so far and unfortunately this is just the beginning. From the biopsies the oncologist is staging it between a 2-3 at the moment since the cancer is under the tissue. The scans will give us a more clear outlook. We will receive results in the next several weeks. From there that will determine how we move forward with treatment. If its localized in the neck area he will need to do 6 weeks (5 days a week) of aggressive radiation. Worst case scenario if its spread, then he will need to do a combo of radiation and chemo. Surgery is also an option later to take out all affected areas if treatment doesn’t work. Please continue to pray for us and most importantly my husband. We have a tough unknown road ahead and are devastated by this news. We are going to fight and do whatever it takes to overcome this together. We have exhausted all other resources for financial help and haven't had any luck thus far. We are struggling at this time and are asking for donations of any kind no matter how small to help pull us through this incredibly scary life changing event.
