Help Hunter Survive Kidney Failure – He’s Not Ready to Leave

Hi, my name is TJ, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart for Hunter.

My dog Hunter—my best friend, my daily companion, and our Chief Therapy Dog—is fighting for his life. Due to being administered the wrong prescription. Hunter is now in severe kidney failure, and the only option left is emergency dialysis at a specialty facility in Boulder. The estimated cost: $20,000–$25,000.

I’ve never been one to ask for help. I’m self-employed, an independent contractor, and a business partner in a growing company. I’m used to pushing forward, even through the hardest days. But this… this has broken me.

Hunter is more than a pet. He’s my heart, my soul, my shadow through every challenge life has thrown my way. I’m an only child, and aside from my parents and a few close friends, he’s the one who’s been by my side through everything. Losing him is not an option I can accept without doing everything I can. Hunter is fighting like hell for us, and I'm going to fight like hell for him. He wants to get healthy, and he wants to get back to hiking in the mountains and wading in the river while fishing. He can't do it without our help. Hunter is a genuine soul, always called the sweetest and goodest of boys, with a "chill" personality, and has a passion for friendship and adventure, while also being known as a full-time goofball and occasional troublemaker.

To borrow from W.H. Auden:
“He’s my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
We thought that love would last forever: We don’t dare be wrong.”

Hunter is still fighting—and so am I. If you’ve ever known a dog who felt more like a soul connection than a pet, you understand this kind of love.

I’ve created this GoFundMe to raise the funds for his dialysis, medication, and continuing care. If you can contribute, no amount is too small. And if you can share this campaign with others, I’d be forever grateful. Every bit helps us buy time—and hope.

Thank you for reading this. Hug your dog tonight.
You never know which night might be the last.
