I am creating this fundraiser for my close friend, Lenin Hernández, who passed away suddenly on August 17, just days before his 42nd birthday on the 25th. Lenin drowned at a local pool, and even though I and other friends did everything we could to help, including CPR and chest compressions, it was not enough. This loss has been heartbreaking and devastating for everyone who knew him. Lenin had no family here in the United States, and his passing happened so unexpectedly that we are now facing these expenses with very little time to prepare. 
 
 
 Lenin leaves behind six children in Colombia and a mother who is over 65 and very ill. He was the main financial support for his mother and his children, and his loss will be felt in so many ways. Lenin loved his kids deeply, talked to them every day, and always made sure they knew they were his biggest blessing. As his friends, we are coming together to give him the dignity and care he deserves. The funds raised will help cover his cremation costs, a small visitation for the close friends he made here in the US, and the cost of sending his ashes to his mother in Colombia so she can have some comfort during this painful time. Estoy pidiendo la ayuda de todos para poder cubrir los gastos de mi querido amigo Lenin Hernández, quien falleció inesperadamente el 17 de agosto, pocos días antes de cumplir 42 años el 25 de agosto.

Lenin falleció ahogado en una piscina local. A pesar de que yo y otros amigos hicimos todo lo que estuvo en nuestras manos para salvarlo, incluyendo realizarle RCP y compresiones en el pecho, lamentablemente no pudimos salvarlo. Su partida fue completamente inesperada y ha dejado un dolor muy grande en todos los que tuvimos la dicha de conocerlo y quererlo.

Lenin no tenía familiares aquí en los Estados Unidos. Deja atrás a sus seis hijos en Colombia y a su madre, quien tiene más de 65 años y se encuentra muy delicada de salud. Lenin era un apoyo económico muy importante para su madre y para sus hijos. Amaba profundamente a sus hijos, hablaba con ellos todos los días y siempre se aseguraba de recordarles cuánto los amaba y que eran su mayor bendición.

Como sus amigos, queremos hacer todo lo posible para darle la despedida que merece y ayudar a su familia en este momento tan difícil. El dinero recaudado ayudará a cubrir los gastos de su cremación, una pequeña velación para que sus amigos más cercanos aquí en Estados Unidos podamos despedirnos de él y el envío de sus cenizas a Colombia, para que su madre pueda tenerlo cerca y encontrar un poco de consuelo en medio de este dolor.
