Dear friends and family...

I am writing to you today to let you know about the transition of our beloved brother - Duane Reid (Affectionately known as: Mansa Negus)

As most of us may (or may not) know, by now, the untimely expected, and sudden transition happened while he was undergoing critical care at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, after being admitted for an emergency surgery procedure on February 4th, of this year.

We are absolutely devastated by the sudden outcome, of him unexpectedly transitioning into the ancestral eternal realm, and we (who survive him), are struggling to find the funds to cover the costs of the homegoing ceremony and service.

Based on providing the best and most tasteful ceremony, within our budget, here is a breakdown that we've gotten - for the costs involved:

Transportation and preparation for viewing: $1,250

Permanent Funerary urn: $ 150

Chapel (Memorial Service): $ 800

Director fees: $ 375

Miscellaneous expenses: $ 425

We cordially invite the members of his social network community (off and online), his former NYC MTA work colleagues, beloved family members, and his life-long friends to join us in celebrating Duane's remarkable life at his Homegoing memorial service.

During his Earth plane existence, and from his youth, he was committed to establishing a legacy— which stemmed from his appreciation for life. He embodied a lovable compassionate nature, and a zest for life, and an endless quest for fun, festivities, and the fellowship within the various social circles, which he became an active member.

After retiring from his dedicated service with the NYC Metropolitan Transit Authority, Duane retired facing unresolved and difficult health challenges. Sadly, he transitioned into the eternal realm, following emergency surgery - for that ongoing medical issue. We extend this invitation to those who knew, and loved him, that would like to participate in celebrating his extraordinary life.
