Help Holly through Heartworm (and Lyme)

Meet Holly! Holly is a Beagle mix, who we are guessing is about 4 years old. She's had a rough life so far, as she came to us as a stray from Six Nations. She had several large ticks on her, and we very quickly learned that she is both heartworm and Lyme positive, not to mention unspayed.

 

This means she needs pretty intensive (and expensive) treatment, as well as strict bed rest, for 3 months, and monitoring for up to a year. She also still needs all her normal treatments (such as vaccines and her spay) once she is healthy enough for them.

 

It's going to be a long and stressful road for Holly, and we're looking for support from our wonderful community towards her ongoing vet bills and longterm care, as she will not be able to be adopted until she has a clean bill of health.

 

We really believe she can make it through this! If we raise more than is needed for her care, it will all go towards the other animals in our care (currently sitting at 160 animals total, and more to come, as it's kitten season!).

Stay tuned as we document Holly's recovery. Right now she's feeling too sick to do much, but once she brightens up a bit, we'll be doing a lot of training and enrichment to keep her brain busy while her body has to rest. She is really just one of the sweetest dogs, despite everything.
