HELP HOLLIE AUST COME HOME

Donation protected
WE ARE HOPING TO RAISE £1,200 FOR CARPETS SO HER HOME VISITS ARE COMFORTABLE.

Many of you will know of Hollie Aust now aged 15, she is an amazing, funny, thoughtful, and caring girl, she has been a huge part of the community and always had a smile and time to chat to everyone.

Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with multiple brain tumours aged 5. She has been on a very courageous journey and undergone many operations over the years, and always came home smiling and eager to get to on with her life with family, friends, and school. She never let her condition define her and wanted to give something back. Before lockdown, she organised and raised a huge £2,500 for the Children’s Ward at John Radcliffe Hospital and used her craft skills to make masks through lockdown to sell for charity.

Last September, Hollie and her family’s life changed forever.

Hollie, her family, and my family, all left my house excited to attend Burghfest, we had the best time, she was like a social butterfly mixing with all her friends, and stopping to chat to everyone who knew her, dancing and singing the night away, this night will always be etched in my memories. What we didn’t know is that this would be the last time we would see her as the Hollie we knew. She went into hospital on the following Monday, we all messaged her our good luck wishes and we would see her very soon, she replied with lovely messages of thanks and how she would let us know how it all went and would see us soon. Those last messages are so precious to us.

Unfortunately, the operation did not go to plan and she has been left permanently disabled, physically and mentally. To this extent, she is a 15-year-old, with the mentality of an 18-month-old and no short-term memory.

After 9 months in John Radcliffe Hospital, 4 weeks in Royal Berks Hospital, and now at Children’s Trust Brain Injury Rehab Unit in Tadworth, Epsom. The prognosis is to help Hollie be as independent and comfortable as possible, with home visits and hopefully coming home for good when stable, and the home modifications have been completed. Having Hollie at home would take enormous stress off the family and her siblings, Chloe, Ella, and 6-year-old Arthur who misses having his mum around.

Laura her mum, is a single mum, who has spent the last year by Hollie’s side in hospitals and has been unable to work. The family home they had, was too small and not suitable for Hollie to come home to or visit, as it was impossible to make the modifications needed.

Thankfully they have been offered a new build home, which they are so grateful for and which is suitable to bring Hollie home for visits and hopefully permanently, but unfortunately, it is not carpeted. They are due to move Friday 12th August.

They would love to get the home carpeted so Hollie can finally come home and spend some time with her family. They have been given one phone quote of £1,200.

Laura has no means to fund the home being carpeted and this is adding to her stress.

Everyone who knows Laura will know she is a very strong, proud, and independent lady, who will help anyone, but would never ask for help, so I have taken it upon myself to set up this Go Fund Me page to help her and Hollie to be at home together again with her family.

Thank you for taking the time to read my plea, if you could donate anything, a price of a coffee? We would be so grateful.

Many thanks
Lisa
