The Game is on...to Provide the Mcguire VA Medical Hospital a Paragolfer
What: For the last 5 years area Salisbury Country Club and Willow Oaks CC have been regularly hosting injured veterans from the Richmond Mcguire VA Medical Hospital to play golf as part of their sports rehabilitation program. Participation by severely wounded veterans is limited due to the lack of the proper equipment, but their interest in golf is high. Our two clubs are committed to raising $30,000 to buy the Mcguire VA at least one Paramobile golf cart.
Impact: This program has changed the lives of wheelchair bound Veterans by increasing golf access an increasing rehabilitation opportunities and we'd be giving back to those who have given so much to our country.
US Marine Corp. Veteran Joshua Burch says. . . " I am a tetraplegic and have no movement in my lower body. Being able to move around the golf course again is a great feeling."
Mcguire Sports Rehab unit says. . . " There is enough need to use a Paramobile every day. In-fact, we could use two."
Honor our Disabled Veterans: Here's how you can change the life and assist with their rehabilitation. Any gift will help, but gifts of $100 or more will be recognized at the VA or directly on the Paramobile. If you are a Salisbury Country Club or Willow Oaks member, dig deep as we're in a competition to see who raises the most money!
Celebration: Our fundraising efforts will conclude with a social Drive, Chip and Putt competition on June 3rd from 4-6pm. Willow Oaks will host their event at the same time and we will see who has raised the most money. This will be a partner event
