Help Heather Recover From the CZU Wildfires
Donation protected
Please help to raise funds for our dear friend, Heather Barlin whose home was partially destroyed in the CZU complex fires. Her home, Penny Lane the airstream, has been a safe haven for her and she only moved to Boulder Creek 2 1/2 months ago. Unfortunately, once she moved her primary insurance carrier dropped coverages because they did not cover the area. The costs to repair Penny Lane and make it inhabitable again from heavy smoke damages will be costly. In addition, the emergency evacuation on August 18 happened while she was gone and she has been without her work equipment since and is anticipating another week or two, creating a loss of income as well.
Heather has worked so hard at single-handedly building a business that brings people joy and was so proud when she purchased her airstream as a home in 2017. Many people in the Santa Cruz Mountains have lost so much and she is so very grateful her home was spared on a road that many homes were not, including her friends’ main house on the property which didn’t survive. To continue living there, they will need to get water tanks for the infrastructure. If the location is uninhabitable for some time because of toxins, she will need to relocate. Let’s help her out!
Funds will cover:
Repairing her home from fire and smoke damages
Loss of income during displacement
Displacement costs
Rehab of land or relocation costs
Now is the time for her community to spring into action. Let’s help ease her mind through this uncertain and traumatic time.
