Our mother is an incredible person and a wonderful mother. She raised the three of us by herself, barely making enough money to support our household for all these years. None of us ever wanted for anything because of her determination and perseverance after a crippling divorce. Since then, the four of us have been extremely close. All three of us consider her one of our very best friends.
Our mother was diagnosed with stage III ovarian cancer in May 2018. Since then she has had a total hysterectomy and had to have a colostomy bag put in. Initially, her cancer cells (CA-125) went down after her hysterectomy and omental tumor removal but, her levels have since increased with the addition of ascites fluid in her abdomen. She has been in incredible pain and discomfort accompanied by nausea and whole body fatigue. Her first chemotherapy had to be monitored in the hospital because she was already having issues. Within the first 10 days after her first round of chemo she became very ill and was hospitalized for acute kidney failure. They kept her for about a week to get her kidney's back to normal. She has had many hospital visits for fluids, etc since she has returned home just to avoid another hospitalization. It is very hard as her children to watch her go through so much. Brenda has been acting as her main caregiver since she is at home with her. Sara has had to miss work to help support Brenda in caring for our mother. Our family has been struggling financially and emotionally and would appreciate any bit of help even if just to share our story.
