My name is Wendy, and I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my nephew, Heath, who is facing unimaginable hardship.
In the past two years, Heath has tragically lost both of his parents — his mom to heart disease and, just recently, his stepdad to what we believe were complications from surgery after bravely fighting colorectal cancer. Both losses were sudden and heartbreaking, leaving Heath to cope with his grief while also facing the heavy financial and emotional burden of handling their affairs on his own.
Now, Heath is left to pick up the pieces of his life while mourning both parents far sooner than anyone should have to. He lived with and supported his mom and stepdad for years as they battled serious health issues, putting their needs ahead of his own and sacrificing his savings and stability to help them. Combined with the loss of his job just a month ago, he is now grieving while also facing mounting expenses, caring for their beloved pets, and trying to find a place to live so he can begin again.
We’ve set our goal at $7,500 to help Heath cover his stepdad’s final expenses and memorial arrangements, a few months of housing and living expenses while he searches for work, and care for his parents’ beloved pets (two golden retrievers, Moria and Gretal, and their cat, Bunny). We know his total needs are greater, but this amount would at least give him some breathing room to grieve and begin rebuilding his life. Any amount raised beyond the goal will continue to help him move toward stability.
Your support would go toward:
- Final expenses and memorial arrangements for his stepdad Chris
- Temporary housing and living expenses
- Care for his parents’ beloved pets
- Helping him start fresh after such devastating loss
Heath is a kind, resilient, and selfless person who has endured more than anyone should have to at this stage of life. Through everything, he’s shown incredible strength and love for his family, never hesitating to step up when they needed him most.
Chris Walsh, Heath’s stepdad, worked for UPS for over 27 years and was known for his kindness, friendly nature, and his ability to make people laugh. He had a deep love for animals — especially his beloved golden retriever service dogs, Moria and Gretal, and many other cherished dogs over the years, including Lucy, Fluffy, and Uno. Chris also loved drumming and had a lifelong passion for music, often filling the house with his rhythms and favorite songs. He enjoyed simple pleasures like metal detecting and spending time with those he cared about. He will be remembered for his warm heart, his humor, and his love of life’s little joys.
LaVonne Walsh, Heath’s mom, was known for her kind heart and free-spirited nature. She loved her golden retriever service dogs, Gretal and Moria, and her cat Bunny. She also cherished beach days with friends and family camping trips to the springs. Her hobbies included gardening, swimming, and art. Despite health challenges, she always found joy in life and time with loved ones. LaVonne passed away suddenly in December 2022 and is remembered for her warmth, laughter, and love of life’s simple pleasures.
Any amount you can give would mean the world and help him find his footing again during this heartbreaking time. If you aren’t able to contribute financially, sharing this page would also be a huge help.
Thank you for reading and for caring about Heath’s story.
