Peter was brought into the South LA animal shelter on August 1st in excruciating pain from a broken pelvis, compressed spine and a bladder stone obstruction. Hidden away from the public in the medical building, he was made to sit in agony for 5 WEEKS with nothing but Motrin as “treatment.”
Through an unlikely series of events across multiple parties, the rescue community was finally made aware that Peter needed help, FAST.
Facebook supporters rallied to pledge funds so a rescue could pull him, an amazing foster with extensive breed experience stepped up to offer Peter a safe haven to decompress from the shelter and begin his medical journey and an amazing rescue commited to take Peter into their loving rescue family.
Peter spent 2 days at Brentwood Animal Hospital ($200) before receiving diagnostic testing and a cystotomy at ASEC ($4600). After reviewing his test results, the doctor feels that physical therapy should be the next course of action before surgery is considered for his spinal injuries, but it has not been ruled out. Initial estimates for both physical therapy as well as a dental cleaning/extractions is approximately $3k on top of the already enormous costs. You can see his initial invoice in the updates section.
There is no way to know what happened to sweet Peter. He may have been hit by a car or he may have been horribly abused, but what we do know is that Friday Sept, 8th was Peter’s last bad day. Please help Much Love Animal Rescue give Peter the specific medical care he requires to properly heal his body and his heart.
