Help Heal my Hubby!!

Hi! Who We Are:
Hi friends, friends of friends, colleagues and family! My name’s Elisabeth and I’m a professional Stuntwoman, former Circus performer, and loving wife. My hubby, Scotty is a Music Producer, Composer, Drummer/Percussionist and awesome Dad to his 11-year old daughter, Sophia and 28-year old stepdaughter, Brittanie. We have an exciting life we wouldn’t change for the world, but our tidy little world did get rocked when Scotty was diagnosed with Classic Hodgkin Lymphoma (CHL) last month. Fortunately it’s in early Stage 1,2 and very curable, so we’ve caught it before it has spread. He has a grapefruit-size tumor in his chest cavity that is putting pressure on his heart and lungs, and because of the placement, the goal is to shrink the tumor, rather than have it removed. We’ve been very busy the past few months learning all about the disease and not only how to treat it, but heal from it, while still managing our lives, my work, and raising his 11-year-old daughter.

How This Started:
It all started about 5 months ago when Scotty started feeling out-of-breath, fatigued, had vertigo, and experienced discomfort in his heart.  Coming from someone who has been athletic and active his entire life, this was slightly alarming.  What was initially mis-diagnosed as Pericarditis (inflammation of the sack lining the heart) was eventually re-evaluated and, after almost 3 months of multiple tests, re-diagnosed as Lymphoma. Because that process took such a long time and he was constantly in discomfort, we had already begun our healing process through an incredible Eastern Medicine practitioner before the actual diagnosis came in, and she was spot-on with her predictions.

Our Treatment/Healing Process:
In addition to having a wonderful Oncologist, we have also been working very closely with a small team of Alternative Medicine practitioners --including Nutrition, Acupuncture and Holistic medicine.  We’re confident that, with our team of Medical professionals, we’ll have this thing beat, but it’s going to be a process that takes months, possibly more, to fully accomplish.

The Turning Point:
While we tend to be pretty private people when it comes to our personal lives, unfortunately, the cost of treating/healing this beast is overwhelming, even with insurance. So we’ve decided to set this page up to help offset the exorbitant costs to come. Outside of a few client jobs, Scotty has been unable to work during this process of healing, which has been another huge shift in our lives that we’re learning to cope with.

Breaking down the Funds:
Here’s a rough breakdown of where the funds will go, based on the past few months of expenses:

*Hospital/Physician Costs: 40%

*Medication Costs: 35%

*Additional Costs of specific foods & dietary supplements (which help starve the cancer cells, so they won’t grow or spread): 10%

*Loss of work (Scotty): 15%

Lifestyle Changes:
Scotty’s daughter, Sophia, knows about her Daddy’s sickness and has been very sweet and supportive.  But, like any 11-year-old, she still struggles with fully comprehending why he can’t come run around and play as much, or why he’s resting so much more. He’s just finished coaching her basketball season, which was a blast, but pretty exhausting! Since he had fully committed to coaching at the beginning of the season, he wanted to see it through despite some of the tougher days when the effects of the Cancer reared their ugly head. Fortunately, Sophia and Scotty share a love for music, so now they are spending more time listening to a ton of music, playing board games, reading, and talking about her latest obsession… K-Pop!

Scotty is usually very busy in his music career, but, unfortunately, this has put a strain on his workflow and he’s had to retreat from most of it while he heals.  In the meantime, I’m holding down the fort as best I can!

On the lighter side of life, we miss our workouts together, one-on-one soccer hangs, motorcycle rides, short scuba diving trips, or just plain relaxing getaways when we can! We’re confident we can slay this beast, but we’ve had to back off on most of the fun for a while. Thankfully we can still write music together for our duo, Cake Without Candles.

How You Can Help:
First and foremost, if you’ve read this far, thank you. That means the world to us. We would appreciate you sharing our story with whomever you feel comfortable. Whether it’s social media, email, or another way, we would be so grateful! Even if it’s small, please donate what you can. Times are increasingly hard for everyone so we understand if donation money is just not there. If that’s the case, please just pass it on to others that may know Scotty or myself.

Thank you so much!! With your help we can HEAL MY HUBBY!!!

With love,

Elisabeth, Scotty and Sophia :)
