Ceasar’s Need

My sister’s dog, Ceasar, needs help. Their story:
My name is Diana Morrissey and I hope this is a newsworthy story about my pet being attacked by a cougar on Lasqueti island, BC.
I raised Ceaser from birth. He was the runt in a litter of 13 presa-canario/pitbull cross puppies. From the time he could walk He was special to me.
As he grew up, he has always walked by my side - goes wherever I go - and has the patience of a saint.
His special talents are that he sings and dances. This has always brought me great joy. He has never been aggressive. When in precarious situations, Ceaser always has my back. If he feels that an individual is a potential threat he uses his head and pushes them away. He has never attacked a human or other pet (including cats). He doesn't like rats or raccoons.
Ceaser would give his life to protect me, as I would for him. He is so precious, everyone who meets him say they wish he was theirs (or "everyone wants a dog just like him" - quoted from a man who was leaving a NAPA store in Campbell River).
On October 16, 2017, at around 6:00 am, I let my pitbull Ceaser, out for his morning run. When he didn't return immediately I began to worry. He always comes home quickly, especially when its cold. I walked around the property calling him. When he still didn't come home I began to look in earnest thinking he wandered a little farther than usual. Around 7:30 am, Ceaser came home quietly, and lay down on the floor. I immediately saw the pool of blood underneath him. My friend and i rolled him over and saw that a large piece of flesh on his right back leg was literally torn from his body.
I knew that Ceaser was in shock and it was vital that I get him to a veterinarian immediately. After a one hour ferry ride we arrived at French Creek and drove to one veterinary hospital in parksville but they refused to help.
I then brought him to Applecross Veterinary Hospital in Nanaimo, and Dr. Julie Lamb was able to stabilize Ceaser and assess the damage.
Due to the severity of the wound, Dr. Lamb recommended amputation of the leg and on October 18, 2017 the operation was performed.
My current situation, however, is that I am currently unemployed and in spite of everything I have tried, i am unable to pay this bill. I have 30 days to pay Applecross Veterinary Hospital for the surgery and care they have given Ceaser. The total cost was $3713.
I am seeking help to pay the cost for the surgery as well as pre and post surgery medications and treatment.
The fact that Ceaser was able to escape with his life shows how powerful his will to live is! I have to be able to take him home! He is my life!
