Help Hazel and Sara study in Rome!!

 

Hello everyone!

We are Hazel and Sara. We have recently gotten the amazing opportunity to attend an art academy in Rome, Italy. We would love your support to help us fund our studies!!

We will be taking a full-time course that starts on 4 October 2022. Through this short, intensive course, we will learn skills such as character design, storyboarding, digital painting and composition. We will also get the chance to attend the annual Annecy Animation Fair in France. At this fair, students get the opportunity to have interviews and show their portfolios to the top recruiters from Disney, Pixar, Cartoon Saloon and many more.

 

We developed a passion for animation and storytelling very early on, and it became our dream to be able to work in the animation industry. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been very easy for us to reach this goal. We live in a rural town called Bega, in the far south coast of New South Wales. There are many artists here but very little opportunity for what we want to do, and it has been challenging developing our skills. For example, the art programs were often cut or undervalued in our high school, with more focus on subjects like maths and science. Because of this we decided to finish high school early, choosing instead to study design online from home. We then chose to do a general design course in Sydney to explore the options available to us. Due to funding cuts in art programs throughout Australia, our course was very underdeveloped and rushed. In addition, because of COVID, we had to leave and go home earlier than we expected. So, we unfortunately couldn’t attend events to show our work and to properly say goodbye to our classmates.

All this taught us to be self-disciplined, to learn independently and to manage our time effectively. We are now also very eager to learn with other students again and to share our ideas.

 

Returning home has had its good points, but overall it has been very isolating. We are both eager to get on with our training and back to life in general! We researched many different art schools focused on animation and building connections. There weren’t many in Australia that fit what we wanted, so we decided to look abroad. After doing a lot of research, we finally agreed on IDEA Academy. As soon as we read about the teachers and the course, we knew it was what we were searching for. We also knew we would need help to get there, so we decided to start a GoFundMe page.

 

We hope to raise enough money to pay for both of our tuition fees. We will be responsible for paying for the other costs, such as the cost of living, accommodation, groceries, flights, insurance, etc.

 

The total tuition fee is $18,000 ($9000 each).

 

We will be regularly posting updates and photos on our GofundMe page. We will also send drawings to anyone who donates $100 or more!!
