Help Hayley, Lilly & Wyatte rebuild their lives

A foundation to help rebuild lives - this is the aim of a fundraiser just begun for the wife and children of Rodger who died in a gyrocopter accident near Stonehenge at the end of July. I am the sister of contract musterer Rodger Plant, whose machine crashed shortly after refuelling at Waroona Station 135km south of Longreach on Sunday, July 25, and the person who has set up the gofundme account with a hope to raise funds for my sister-in-law Hayley Plant and her two children Lilly, 8, and Wyatte, 5.

The tragic circumstances of the accident were amplified by the knowledge that Rodger had finished his aerial mustering work for the morning and was on his way back to his vehicle to head back to Charters Towers to help pack his small family up to begin a new life in western Queensland.

Now Hayley wants to stay in Charters Towers where the kids have a base and friends at school, but Hayley has to find a house and organise a bond and things like that. I just think it's important for her to have time to concentrate on their needs as a family & to be there to support my niece & nephew, rather than having to race back to work. This is about helping them all get back on their feet after such a heartbreaking event.

They started their Brahm Rural contracting business in 2019, putting all their resources behind the mustering, fencing, stock processing business, and life insurance for someone in their early 30s was down the list of priorities. Hayley said some of the children's happiest memories of time with their dad was going out west in the school holidays and joining in the fun of the Yaraka Gymkhana.

Hayley & I are so very grateful for all the help & support we have received as she and the children tried to rebuild their lives, any help people could give would add up and allow them time to grieve and find a new normal.
