Life changing surgery for Hayden

Hayden is a 27 year old young man with lymphoedema living in Mackay.
Lymphoedema is a chronic condition where there is an accumulation of excessive amounts of protein rich fluid which results in swelling of one or more regions of the body.
There is currently no cure for lymphoedema .
Surgical treatment of Lymphoedema/lipoedema is being trialled in Melbourne and Sydney- this includes surgical reduction and micro-surgery to restore lymph flow.
Hayden has done a lot to manage his condition by having a strict daily ritual of preventative compression wraps to ensure his condition does not worsen – he has lost 54.2kg since October 2016 and is actively going to the gym and continues to loose weight.
We would like to help Hayden to be able to travel to Sydney to be assessed and be approved as a candidate for the surgical treatment. He would have to travel from Mackay and stay in Sydney for the assessment and surgery . Flights, accommodation and medical expenses for the assessment is estimated at $3,500. Once he had the assessment in November and he is approved as a candidate to receive the surgery he would need to fly to Sydney and stay there for 10 days - we estimate it would cost in total around $ 10,000.
Hayden is struggling to lead a normal active life - the surgery will change his life and give him hope to be a normal active young man again.
