Help Harvey's Heart

Donation protected
On February 3rd, Harvey unexpectedly presented with extreme pain, difficulty breathing, and inability to use his hind legs. He had no previous symptoms, and had spent the night sleeping next to his Mommy's head and hanging out in the bathroom with her while she showered. He is only 6, almost 7 years old.

At the emergency vet, Harvey was quickly diagnosed with Restrictive Cardiomyopathy, showing symptoms of heart failure. It can be rapid onset, with no prior symptoms. No cause is known, although genetics play a big part. To complicate matters, Harvey also had a saddle thrombus, which is a blood clot caused by cardiomyopathy that lodges itself in the spine where the bloodflow to his back legs splits, which causes paralysis and extreme pain.

With options of euthanization or an expensive no-promises treatment, we went forward with treatment. Harvey is currently in an oxygen chamber, being given blood thinners in an attempt to dissolve the clot. He is also receiving pain medication, and diuretics to try to flush out the fluid in his lungs and around his heart. We are also starting heparin today. Most cats who are going to recover show progress within 72 hours. We're at 24 currently.

Some of you had expressed wanting to donate to his medical expenses, which I admit are very high. My goal isn't even for the full amount of his expected care. But, I have set up this GoFundMe as a way to let those who want to help do so. Please do not feel obligated! But with our wedding coming up in August, I admit any help given would go a long way.

Love,
Molly
