Help Harvey Get Home!

On June 22, 2017 my brother Harvey was in his kitchen when the chimney of the building collapsed into his top-floor apartment. About a ton of bricks, wood, plaster, cement dust and debris fell into the middle of the room. The bricks destroyed most of his furniture, personal artwork and other valuables. Luckily he was uninjured, but within hours the New York City Department of Buildings inspectors posted a vacate order on the front door, resulting in the closure and locking of the apartment. Harvey is a working artist who worked out of his apartment, but with the apartment shuttered, he has no access to his personal belongings, clothing, or art supplies. Harvey has been homeless ever since. He is also a cancer survivor and HIV+ and the instability and uncertainty of his situation has been very stressful and I worry about his health.

During the first court hearing, The judge instructed his landlord was to repair and return his apartment to livability by November 1st. The landlord failed to do, so the vacate order remains in place and Harvey continues to stay with various friends throughout the city. He is also currently in and out of court trying to get them to uphold the order to get his deadbeat landlord to repair and clean the apartment.  Last week Harvey's lawyer asked for an additional $15,000. on top of the initial $12,000. he borrowed to pay his lawyers to help get him back in his apartment. Without hiring a lawyer, his landlord would have done nothing as he's proven that by past negligent behavior. 

Harvey has depleted his meager financial reserves and needs help to pay for day-to-day living expenses, boarding for his 2 cats, and legal expenses until he can return to his apartment.

Harvey needs financial help, no matter how small.
