This is our beautiful 5 year old son called Harley. Who in October 2016 at the age of 13 months was diagnosed with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. As you can imagine this was a tough time for us as parents to learn our little boy may never walk, talk or live an independent life but we have never given up hope..
Cerebral Palsy is a lifelong neurological condition (caused by damage to the brain) that affects muscle control, movement, balance and co-ordination. In Harley's case all four of his limbs are affected.. As a result of Harley's disability he is unable to walk, has a Global Development delay, Epilepsy, learning disabilities, is unable to communicate , has emotional and behavior challenges. sensory processing disorder, sleep and eating problems etc.. Harley's muscles also become extremely tight and stiff causing pain for him on a daily basis.
Putting all of Harley's challenges aside he is the most special boy who has so much determination, always wears a smile and never gives up!
Although this was a hard decision , we decided to create this fund raising page to help us raise money for the purchase of equipment to enable Harley to have the best possible quality of life. As with any type of equipment designed for special needs children they can be ridiculously expensive and although we have self funded pieces of equipment already its just not possible to be able to keep up..
A few weeks ago Harley had an assessment in the amazing TinyTrax powered wheelchair which is designed to give children like Harley the freedom and independence he needs and deserves which will also grow with him till hes approx 11 years old. However, this has been quoted at just under £7000, unfortunately we just dont have this kind of money.
To help raise funds Harley's Dad and a few friends will be participating in the 3 peaks Challenge on the 30th July this year which involves climbing the three highest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours.
On behalf of Harley we would be eternally grateful for any donations so we can give him the best quality of life he deserves.
All our love Michelle and Darren (Mummy and Daddy) xxx
