My friend Hannah is going through something no one should ever have to face. Recently, her partner left, taking their young son, all of their belongings, and even her laptop that she needs to finish school. This has left Hannah without her child, without a home, and without even the basics like clothes, food, and feminine products.

To make things even harder, all of this happened during her son’s 2nd birthday. Instead of being able to celebrate and hold her little boy on his special day, Hannah wasn’t even allowed to see him.

For the past year, Hannah’s partner had control over her paychecks, leaving her without access to her own income. Now, on top of everything, she is left with nothing—no savings, no belongings, and no financial safety net.

Our immediate goal is to help Hannah secure stable housing by raising funds for a security deposit on a one-bedroom apartment and any required move-in costs. Hannah also plans to apply for housing assistance and other state funding programs in Florida, but those processes take time, and she needs safe housing now for herself and her son.

She has tried turning to the police and courts for immediate help, but her emergency custody request was denied. Now she has to endure a long custody battle that could take months—or even a year—before she can bring her son back home.

Despite everything, Hannah is determined to keep moving forward. She is in school to become a medical assistant, while also working to support herself. Right now, though, she cannot do it alone. She urgently needs help with essentials like food, clothing, hygiene products, a safe place to stay, and a new laptop so she can continue her education.
