Help Our Haitian Orphans Graduate

Donation protected
As some of you know, for decades my family and I and have been supporting Maison D’Espoir, an orphanage in Haiti.  The orphanage cares for kids born with little support or opportunity in one of the poorest nations on earth.

Over the last few years, 20 young Haitians aged out of the orphanage and, against all odds, moved to the Dominican Republic to study at La Unversidad Tecnologica de Santiago.  They are striving to become professionals and build a future for themselves and their community.

For the last three years, Rob and I have been raising money to help nine orphans graduate.

We are proud to say that two have already finished school and three more are receiving their diplommas next month!

Through their hard work and the generosity of our community, Mercidieu is now an accountant and Johny is an industrial engineer.  Meanwhile Nelson, Vicki and Weskendy are about to receive degrees in psychology, bioanalysis and industrial engineering.

In addition, all nine students have passed every class since we started funding their educations.

Over the next few years we hope to help our hard working students become doctors, computer scientists & civil engineers.

Unfortunately, because of the xenophobic backlash against immigrants in the Dominican Republic in recent years, two of our orphans are now studying at universities back in Haiti.

We currently spend around $18,000 per year for all 9 students. This covers school & graduation fees, books, supplies, transportation, food and incidental costs, like clothes.

The outpouring of support from our friends and family has inspired us, and ensured our students can continue their studies.  We’ve received donations both large and small and all of it helps tremendously.

Right now, however, our funds are running low and we want to make sure we can pay for next semester's tuition.

Please consider making a tax deductible donation to this very worthy project through the Haitian Peoples Support Project.  Every penny we receive goes directly to the students.  It’s really amazing how a relatively small amount of money makes a huge impact on these student’s lives.
