Support for Gustavo Morales

On March 10, 2021, my friend Gustavo Morales was the victim of a violent attack while he was at work in Los Angeles, California. The attacker stabbed him multiple times on his back, chest and torso while he waited for the elevator at the building where he lives and that he also manages. This sent Gustavo for several days to an Intensive Care Unit with a perforated lung.
 
Gustavo is a Venezuelan writer and director better known as Gordon Milcham, who survived the 9-11 attack in New York City and later moved to California to develop a career as a filmmaker. Fortunately, he was able to disarm and subdue his attacker and is alive and able to tell the story. However, he can't work and it’s unclear when he will be able to  again.  Medical and legal bills will surely begin to pile up in the next months and he needs to move out of the residence where the crime took place for security reasons. He also requires special attention and care during his recovery due to the current Covid19 pandemic.

 Gustavo doesn't have family in California other than his loving wife Denise,  who is helping him heal the physical and psychological wounds inflicted by this unprovoked act of violence.

I know Gustavo and his family very well, and I can't imagine how much they are suffering right now. Especially because they can’t travel from Venezuela due to the policies of the Nicolas Maduro regime. We would deeply appreciate your support to cover Gustavo’s unexpected expenses and provide relief to the stress of his family. This way the Morales family can focus as much as possible on Gustavo’s rehabilitation and a full recovery.

El 10 de marzo de 2021, mi amigo Gustavo Morales fue víctima de un ataque violento mientras estaba en su trabajo en Los Angeles, California.  El asaltante lo apuñaló múltiples veces sin provocación en la espalda, el pecho y el torso mientras esperaba el ascensor de un edificio que administra y donde también reside. Esto obligó a Gustavo a pasar varios días en una Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos con un pulmón perforado.

Gustavo es un escritor y director venezolano mejor conocido como Gordon Milcham, que sobrevivió el ataque a las Torres Gemelas en Nueva York y luego se mudó a California a hacer carrera como cineasta.

Afortunadamente, Gustavo pudo desarmar y subyugar a su atacante y está vivo y es capaz de contar la historia. Sin embargo, no puede trabajar y no está claro cuándo podrá hacerlo otra vez.  Las cuentas médicas y legales pronto empezarán a acumularse y también necesita mudarse del lugar donde se cometió el crimen por razones de seguridad. Gustavo también requiere atención y cuidado especializado durante su recuperación debido a la actual pandemia del Covid19.

La única familia de Gustavo en California es su adorada esposa Denise, quién lo está ayudando a curar las heridas físicas y psicológicas causadas por este acto  violento no provocado.

 Conozco a la familia de Gustavo muy bien y no puedo imaginar cuánto sufren en este momento, especialmente porque no pueden salir de Venezuela debido a las políticas del régimen de Nicolás Maduro. Apreciamos profundamente cualquier apoyo que puedas brindarnos para cubrir los inesperados gastos de Gustavo y proporcionar un respiro al estrés de su familia. De esta manera, los Morales podrán enfocarse lo más posible a su rehabilitación y completa recuperación.
