Help Gus Beat Cancer

Thank you for taking the time to read Gus' story. I am Amelia, one of Gus' 4 siblings. We were raised in the community of Mound, MN which has shown an incredible amount of love and support since Gus' diagnosis on October 25th.
Gus went into the hospital when he began having a difficult time breathing. There it was discovered that he had a malignant germ cell tumor pressing on his lung causing a partial collapse as well as his pulmonary artery. Due to the size and placement, doctors called in a special team to get the port inserted immediately and to start the chemo.
The next couple months are going to be arduous for Gus as he will undergo a very aggressive form of treatment. He will receive 5 days of chemo every 3 weeks for 4 sessions. Once he completes that, they will re-assess the size of the tumor and decide what the next course of action is from there.
Every step of this treatment and the incredible care he is receiving is at a cost that none of us could prepare for. It is always difficult asking for help, but so many of you have come forward asking "how can I help?" First and foremost, we will take all the prayers you have been graciously sending our way. We are also in need of help in offsetting the expense as Gus undergoes costly treatments, scans, and hospitals stays. Additionally, the money will assist Gus with his daily living expenses as he prepares to be out of work for the foreseeable future.
At the time of diagnosis, unfortunately, Gus was not insured. He has since been able to get signed up with MNsure to start in the new year. The funds raised will be used to pay down the expenses acrued pre-insurance, and will also be used to pay the deductible for the new year.
Upon Gus' diagnosis it became increasingly evident to his family just how loved he is. We so appreciate every one of you who have offered words of encouragement, meals, prayers, and financial assistance. We are forever grateful to the love that has been shown and we are confident that it will keep Gus in high spirits as he takes this journey. You have all let him know he is not doing it alone. Thank you, from the bottom of all of our hearts.
