<div>Gulf Coast Times was created to give local residents, businesses, organizations, and communities a stronger voice.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’m Justin Buzek, the owner and developer of Gulf Coast Times. I built the website from the ground up and have already begun covering local events, public-safety incidents, community concerns, coastal conditions, local businesses, and stories submitted directly by residents.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Gulf Coast Times is already doing the work. This campaign is about becoming better prepared for the moments when dependable local information matters most.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Why This Campaign Matters</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Covering an ordinary community event is very different from reporting during a severe storm, power outage, nighttime emergency, or extended breaking-news situation.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>During those events, a reporter must be able to remain powered, stay connected to the internet, safely document what is happening, record clear information, and publish updates directly from the field.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Right now, much of Gulf Coast Times’ reporting is completed using personally owned equipment and a limited mobile setup. That works for many everyday stories, but it creates serious limitations during outages, poor weather, nighttime incidents, and longer assignments away from a dependable power source.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This campaign will help build a storm-ready and breaking-news field kit for Gulf Coast Times.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>What the Equipment Will Help GCT Do</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With a more reliable field-reporting setup, Gulf Coast Times will be better equipped to:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>Continue reporting during power outages
</li>
<li>Publish updates directly from breaking-news scenes
</li>
<li>Stay connected during severe weather
</li>
<li>Capture clearer nighttime photographs and video
</li>
<li>Record understandable interviews in noisy enviroments
</li>
<li>Cover road closures, flooding, fires, public-safety incidents, and community emergencies
</li>
<li>Remain in the field for longer periods without losing power
</li>
<li>Protect essential equipment from rain and coastal weather
</li>
<li>Provide faster and more complete information to local residents
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is not about purchasing equipment simply to make Gulf Coast Times look larger.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It is about having the tools needed to show up, stay operational, and provide useful local information when conditions are difficult and the community may need it most.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>How the $2,750 Goal Will Be Used</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Funds raised through this campaign may be used toward:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>A dependable portable power station
</li>
<li>Backup batteries and field-charging equipment
</li>
<li>Mobile internet and connectivity equipment
</li>
<li>Wireless microphones for interviews and public statements
</li>
<li>A mobile camera or reporting rig
</li>
<li>Low-light photography and video equipment
</li>
<li>Tripods, stabilizers, and portable lighting
</li>
<li>Weather-resistant protective cases
</li>
<li>Reflective safety gear and rain protection
</li>
<li>Data storage and other essential field-reporting accessories
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The exact equipment purchased will depend on the amount raised and the most urgent reporting needs at the time of purchase.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Why Support Gulf Coast Times?</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Large news organizations cannot be everywhere.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Important local stories often begin with a resident reaching out, a community event that deserves attention, a storm developing along the coast, or something happening in a neighborhood that might otherwise go unnoticed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Gulf Coast Times was created to help fill that gap.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Supporting this campaign is not simply helping purchase equipment. It is helping build a stronger independent local-news resource for Brazoria County, Galveston County, and surrounding Gulf Coast communities.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It is helping Gulf Coast Times become more prepared to respond when something happens and residents begin asking:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>What happened?
</li>
<li>Is the area safe?
</li>
<li>Which roads are closed?
</li>
<li>Has power been restored?
</li>
<li>Where can people find help?
</li>
<li>What are local officials saying?
</li>
<li>How is the community being affected?
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Our Commitment to Transparency</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Gulf Coast Times will share campaign updates so supporters can see what their contributions helped make possible.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Updates may include:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>Fundraising milestones
</li>
<li>Equipment purchases
</li>
<li>Photographs of newly purchased equipment
</li>
<li>Explanations of how each item will be used
</li>
<li>Tests of the completed field setup
</li>
<li>Examples of reporting produced using the new equipment
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Funds raised through this campaign will be used for the storm and breaking-news reporting equipment and related field needs described above.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Gulf Coast Times is an independently operated local business and is not currently a nonprofit organization. Contributions should not be considered tax-deductible charitable donations.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Help Us Be Ready When the Community Needs Information Most</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><span class="ql-cursor"></span>Gulf Coast Times has already started building an independent local-news source for the Gulf Coast.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, we are asking residents, readers, and local businesses to help us become better prepared for storms, outages, emergencies, and breaking stories.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every contribution moves us closer to a more reliable field-reporting setup.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sharing the campaign also makes a meaningful difference.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for believing in independent local news and for helping Gulf Coast Times become better equipped to serve the community.
