My name is Torey Bulger, I am a student at Florida State University, working on my undergraduate in Speech Communication Sciences and Disorders. My future plan is to continue my education and become an Audiologist. When I was 5 years old one of my kindergarten classmates was deaf. She had an aide that attended class with her everyday and helped her, and her classmates communicate through sign language. It was the beginning of my passion to learn about hearing loss and all the many different facets of the disability.
HELP GUATEMALA HEAR 2018 is a mission trip that a few chosen students have the opportunity to participate in. I have been blessed to be selected! The FSU Speech and Hearing Clinic Mission Team will join the resident medical clinic February 24-March 3, 2018 to provide much needed audiology services and hearing aides to those in need. Audiology services are desperately needed in this area and we hope to provide both training and services for both children and adults. For the indigenous people, we hope to provide the gift of sound!
The trip is funded entirely though donations and by those going on the mission trip, so ANY donations are much appreciated. All funds will be used to purchase medical supplies, audiology equipment, hearing aid batteries, etc. EVERY PENNY collected will be used to directly benefit the children and people of Guatemala. Any unused supplies will be left with the missionaries. I am excited about the opportunity and experience that lies ahead. This is where we need your help, please help me to make a difference in the lives of others!
