Update on Greg’s Journey: Pivoting with Purpose and Preparing for Our Move

In September 2025, our lives changed forever when Duke Neurology diagnosed Greg with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease. That single phone call rewrote the future for us. We immediately had to let go of our retirement dreams, close our South Carolina small business under intense financial strain, and relocate to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to be close to specialized medical care. Your incredible generosity and outpouring of love are the exact reasons Greg was able to receive treatments at Duke Health. We truly could not have navigated this challenging chapter without you.

Where We Stand Today

On the health front, this road has brought unexpected frustrations. Greg's medical team recently had to stop his lecanemab infusions after 18 sessions due to ongoing side effects and a lack of cognitive or behavioral improvement. While his Alzheimer’s continues to progress - bringing short-term memory challenges, trembling hands, difficulty regulating body temperature, and a daily battle with depression - Greg refuses to let this disease define his purpose. As a lifelong entrepreneur, Greg is channeling his energy into raising awareness and helping others. Over the last six months, Greg has launched several initiatives, including two Substack publications - My Alzheimer’s Journey and Greg's Alzheimer's Research Report - as well as online stores. Greg hopes to work as a paid speaker, sharing his personal experiences on discovering courage amid decline.

Because Greg is no longer receiving weekly infusions in Durham, we have made the strategic decision to relocate to Greensboro, North Carolina, on August 30, 2026. This move will significantly lower our day-to-day cost of living while keeping us just 50 miles from the team at Duke Health for upcoming treatment consultations.
