Help Greenbriar Flooding Victims

Donation protected
I am sure you have been following the plight of the seniors from Greenbriar.  As you may know, on Monday August 13th, Greenbriar in Brick was evacuated due to flooding.  Residents there were not required to have flood insurance for their home, being they are not in a flood zone.  Many have been displaced from their homes.  Some do not know when they will be able to return.

My fundraiser is for Tom and Lois Flynn, and their dog, Buddy Holly, who are currently  displaced from their home.  I had the pleasure of meeting the Flynns while pregnant, over 9 years ago.  I walked the Brick reservoir daily with my father, and we met Buddy Holly and Lois on one of our walks one day.  Interesting enough, Buddy shares my middle name, and my father's birthday.  Since that day, an unbelievable friendship was formed with the Flynns.  I like to think of my father as Buddy's surrogate father.  It's been 9 years, and the Flynns and my family have forged a close bond.

Flash forward to August 13th.  The torrential rain had left over  1/2 foot of water inside the Flynn's home in a short period of time, and  has created unbelievable  damage.  Since all utilities had been turned off, unfortunately mold has begun to grow.  The Flynns have a huge undertaking facing them.    Sheetrock, flooring, and electrical repairs all need to be done  before they can  entertain the idea of replacing furniture, appliances and clothing items.  It is anticipated that it will be months before the Flynns will be able to return to their home.

This is where we come in.  I am asking for donations to help Tom , Lois and Buddy.  I understand our governor has asked for relief assistance, however, that could take months, if not years to receive.  The Flynns cannot wait that long.  They need immediate financial assistance to begin to repair the damage.

Tom and Lois have had years of struggles, including recent health issues for Tom,  and this house was a beacon of light for them.   This family needs our help, and I hope  to raise $5000 by month's end.  The money raised will go directly to the Flynns to assist in home repairs.  The photo below will show the severity of the situation.  Remember, Greenbriar is home to senior residents, many on fixed incomes, so finding funds tor repairs is going to be a daunting task.

There have been some offers of furniture and home goods from my generous friends.  While I am beyond words with gratitude at the offers, unfortunately at this time, the Flynns will need to address the water damaged floors, sheetrock and mold before they can accept such items.

I thank you in immeasurably in advance for whatever you can donate.   My family and I believe in assisting others in need,  and this couple is truly deserving of our help.
