Help Gordon Kick MS!

As you may or may not know, our dear friend/family member Gordon Titus was diagnosed with Relapsing- Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) on February 16, 2018.  This is a progressively debilitating disease that affects the nervous system. Over time it can progress into complete loss of motor skills. Presently, Gordon has stiffness and weakness in his legs and feels continually weak and extremely tired.

After extensive research, talking with others who have had the procedure and weighing treatment options, he has chosen to have a very expensive procedure called Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) . This procedure  will require him to travel out of country. It will also require him to take up to 3 months away from work. HSCT is not covered by insurance because it has not yet been approved by the FDA. 

HSCT has been utilized for over 30 years with a 80-90% success rate and will put Gordon into remission. This means that he will no longer have to take any prescriptions after the procedure. Many of the FDA-approved prescription drugs cost over $100,000 per year and can have horrible side effects. Furthermore, these drugs have limited effectiveness at addressing the underlying RRMS symptoms.

Due to the progressive nature of this disease the sooner Gordon can get the HSCT treatment, the more effective it is at halting the symptoms of RRMS. Therefore, Gordon has already applied and hoping to be accepted at Clinica Ruiz in Puebla, Mexico for treatment beginning in June.  Your contribution today will be very helpful in Gordon feeling more secure about going through with this potentially life-changing procedure.

HSCT requires Gordon to be in Mexico for one month. In addition, he must take a care giver to Mexico for the entire month. Luckily, his Mother, Judy Titus, is able to travel with him and be his caregiver.  This will be an added expense to the trip.

HSCT includes chemotherapy and then stem cell transplantation. After the month in Mexico, Gordon will be home and recovering for up to 2 months and completely unable to work.

The procedure alone costs $54,500.00 and he is hoping to get some help to pay for this and his requisite time off from work.
