Help Glyn Get Immunotherapy Treatment

My name is Susan Moon, my husband Glyn was diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer. In April 2016. He was treated with ECF chemo and radiotherapy. Which shrank the tumour. In March 2017 he was diagnosed with a lung nodule, which was removed by a wedge resection in Guys Hospital. In April 2018 both the Oesophageal and Lung came back. He was started on ECF chemo but didn’t work. So then put on Paclitaxol. By the end of the six cycles the cancer had responded well. So was left for three months. However before the three months were up he was having difficulty swallowing anything. He had a CT scan which confirmed progression. He was put back on to Paclitaxol. But again didn’t do anything. The oncologist decided there were no avenues to go down. But we pleaded with her and she put him on Carboplatin, and 5FU. After his three month scan the Oesophageal had shrunk just a little. But the Lung had spread. But out of the first 12 weeks of treatment it was cancelled six times due to Chest Infections. 

We went and paid for a Caris test done which showed he was PD-L1 positive. And was told an immunotherapy treatment Pembrolizumab would be beneficial to him.  

This is NOT available on the NHS for Oesophageal Cancer in the UK.  We have looked into Pembrolizumab privately, but been quoted £11500 every three weeks.. And they recommend 35 treatments. (2years)If we don’t do this then the future is bleak. We are looking into taking equity out of our home to enable the treatment to go ahead. The hospital have now stopped his chemo. So going privately is our only option. Glyns not been able to eat or drink anything for the last 11 months and relying on nourishment  through supplements via a peg tube.

 He’s only recently given up work, he has worked all through his chemo treatments. And never took a day off sick throughout his working life.

We’ve been through so much together, we lost our 16 year old daughter Lisa  through a tragic accident. 

We can’t give up now, but desperately need help to fund this treatment.
