Help Glen Dooney

Donation protected
NEW CAMPAIGN: We have an update on the current status for Glen and it unfortunately isn't a good one. As you may already know, due to his disease, Glen is permanently disabled and can't work or drive, so he can't support himself and must rely on public services. The last thing we want is to see him in the streets which was where he was headed before we raised money here for him last time. Your generous donations allowed for Glen to be living comfortably in Beacon for the last six months. He had a court date this past Wednesday where we were expecting a ruling by the judge that would allow him to receive financial support for food and housing. Unfortunately, the judge postponed his case until June. We know its a lot to ask but Glen needs your help again. We would like to keep him where he is until his next court date in June. The money raised last time paid for his rent up until March and has run out. Friends have been chipping in here and there to pay for him to get groceries, do his laundry, get his haircut, and keep his cell phone turned on. Any donations will help him greatly and please know that he appreciates it very much. Once his court case is closed, he will be able to survive on his own. But until then, any help from friends & family would be much appreciated. For our last campaign we raised 5,000 which got him 6 months of housing and some food. We are trying to raise another 5,000 for housing, food, P.O. Box, cell phone, laundry, to cover until the next court date in June. THANK YOU!!!!

LAST CAMPAIGN: Our friend Glen has been diagnosed with Huntington's Disease. It is,  eventually, a fatal disease. There is some medicine for treatment to manage the symptoms or hopefully delay the severity but, no cure. It is a genetic disease and Glen's brothers have it as well. He was a union member/elevator repair man in NYC for 15 years before he got sick. Both parents passed over 20 years ago. Even though their Doctor has examined him and confirmed that he has the disease, social security and disability has not been approved yet and he recently became homeless and was staying with a friend. He can no longer drive due to the illness. Our hope is to secure him a small room for 6 months in Beacon, NY (his beloved home town for many years) until his disability comes through. After looking for month to month rentals, this was the best we could find but it needs to be a 6 month rental. (lease) We want for Glen to live independently for as long as possible and enjoy his independence. If you could donate any amount to help us secure this 6 month lease and buy him some time until his social security or disability kicks in we know that Glen would be so thankful to be back where he is familiar with his surroundings and can get around on foot and by bus as this would be extremely beneficial given the mental and psychological difficulties and challenges that come with the disease.  Please read more about the disease and its' stages here: https://hdsa.org/what-is-hd/
