Advocates for Elvina and Kathy

Great News: Elvina is finally scheduled for her treatment to begin in the U.S. - Aug 2019!!! Still looking for a donated treatment option for Kathy to bring her as well as soon as possible.
***Consider helping us reach our goal in getting them to treatment!!! Elvina is currently phase 1, and Kathy will be phase 2***
Every little bit helps.

What’s this all about?

This fundraiser is for 2 little girls (Elvina and Kathy) to travel to/from treatment (from Papua New Guinea to the U.S.)... A charity in Houston is facilitating getting 4 yr old Elvina the donated medical treatments through U.S. physicians and hospital and they’ll be providing housing and recovery care for her... We still are looking for a treatment option for Kathy and we’re praying we’ll find the right medical team to address her tumor so she can come and get the help.
The challenge - We have to find the means to bring them to the available medical help here in the U.S. Travel from PNG is very expensive. I started this campaign at my friend Cletus’s request request to help with the expected large expenses. It would mean so much to us if you’d consider contributing to help us to get them the medical care they desperately need.
Every donation, large or small, will help.

FULL STORY
I learned about the needs of these 2 little girls last year from my missionary friend Cletus Dillman. He’s been serving for the last 5 yrs at the Seventh-Day Adventist mission in Goroka, Papua New Guinea (PNG) for Adventist Aviation Services (AAS). PNG is a country located in the SW Pacific, and sits north of Australia. AAS provides air logistics and transport services by airplane in support of the SDA church and the tribal peoples of PNG. Cletus has always had a heart for service and while working also has a little ministry of his own. He tries his best to help with education, food, or medical assistance, for underprivileged and in-need women and children in PNG.

Meet Little Elvina
In one of his missionary travels, Cletus came across Elvina Kolevi, a wonderful four year old little girl that has suffered extensive burns to her face, neck, and hands when she fell into an open fire as a toddler - miraculously surviving with no treatment! He brought Elvina and her family from the isolated village of Maimafu to Goroka, to seek medical treatment. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the burns and scarring, the local doctors could not help her. So she has a difficult time breathing and eating (another reason she is small). It was confirmed, that besides the obvious damage to her neck muscles, her esophagus and trachea were damaged due to the fire/smoke inhalation. The pull of the neck scars is most severe pulling her lower lip and keeps her neck flexed down.  As she grows, this worsens daily...
Cletus found a charity in Houston, TX; an organization willing to try to help the girls. Having had a lot of experience with burn victims, they were able to find and coordinate for donated plastic surgery services for Elvina.

June update/News for Elvina: A charity and a medical facility in Texas are now ready to accept Elvina August 2019 for surgeries and after-care while she heals. We just have to get her and her required caregiver, Mrs. Kuto, there. Passports are done, visas now approved, we are stepping out in faith that we will receive enough money for travel and related expenses for their trip to the U.S. Will you help?

Meet Little Kathy
Cletus also met 7 yr old Kathy Soso through his work. She has a Burkitt Lymphoma cancerous tumor. She is still little, so the chances of full recovery are 90% if she receives her Chemo treatment soon. Due to the growing mass in her mouth/jaw, she is often withdrawn, weak, and is losing weight and small. Parents are devastated but holding on to hope she will still get get the help she needs. While her tumor could be remedied much easier in the U.S., so far, seeking treatment options in PNG hospitals have provided no hope for her there in-country. Her medical needs exceed that of local expertise or hospital resources. Cletus has tried all options he could find in PNG and other countries closer; so we continue to work to get her treatment here in US. Please pray an option for Kathy's treatment is found and approved soon! If you have a contact that may be interested in donating treatment, please contact me at [email redacted] or call [phone redacted]. We are praying and need your prayers also. Thank you.

Any additional funds raised above the girls’ travel and care-related needs will be used for the girls upon their return home to PNG. Cletus has been working since March 2018 to bring the girls as soon as possible, so we need your help and time is of the essence!  We are continuing to work through the process to bring these little ones to the U.S. for treatment. Thank you for your donations and prayers that we will be successful in helping Elvina and Kathy!

Together we can help get these precious girls the healing that they need. Thank you for considering helping this worthy cause. We appreciate you also sharing this story via your social media to your friends and family.
