<div><strong>Dave has Stage 4 oesophageal cancer and has been given a 6–12 month prognosis with second-line treatment. With two little boys aged 5 and 1, we're raising money to help fund an additional treatment option and give Dave and Samantha more precious time to make memories with their boys.</strong>

<div>On 22nd December 2025 - the day before their son's birthday and just three days before Christmas - Dave and Samantha's world changed forever when Dave was diagnosed with Stage 4 oesophageal adenocarcinoma, which had already spread to his liver.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At his lowest point, Dave was unable to eat and had to rely on a feeding tube.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But he fought back.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Dave began chemotherapy and immunotherapy and initially responded incredibly well. His cancer showed significant shrinkage over two scans, he regained his strength and, importantly, was able to eat again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, his latest scan has brought devastating news.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The cancer is growing again and has now spread to his lungs and further lymph nodes.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Dave has now moved onto second-line treatment with the chemotherapy drug Paclitaxel. There is an additional targeted treatment, Ramucirumab, that Dave's family are hoping he can receive alongside his chemotherapy. As this treatment combination isn't readily accessible to Dave through the NHS for his circumstances, the family have had to explore private treatment.

<div>The cost of the Ramucirumab treatment alone is approximately £4,000-5,000 per infusion and that would be required bi-weekly.
</div>

<div>They are now also working with gastrointestinal specialist Dr Douglas Brand at Leaders in Oncology Care (LOC) on Harley Street - Although this is private treatment and an initial consultation alone is £350 and follow-up appointments £200 each. If further private scans, biopsies or testing are recommended, they will need to fund those too, along with the cost of travelling to London for appointments.

<div>They will also be exploring alternative therapies that will compliment his traditional oncology treatment such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, red light therapy and cryotherapy.
</div>

</div>
<div>Like many families, Dave and Samantha never imagined they would find themselves facing something like this. Dave does not have life or critical illness insurance to provide a financial safety net, and with private treatment now potentially costing tens of thousands of pounds, they simply can't do this alone.
</div>

<div>“Dave is the absolute rock of our family, over the last 8 years we have faced a lot of loss, and he has been the strength that’s got us through it all. We tragically lost our firstborn son, Theo, when he was 8 weeks old to SIDs and my mum the year after to PSP. We were lucky enough to have our son Freddie who brought sunshine back into our lives and eventually decided to grow our family further. Unfortunately, in trying for our third little boy Leo, we had two heartbreaking miscarriages. It has felt like blow after blow and after everything, this diagnosis, just a year after Leo was born, feels cruel beyond words.

<div>Dave is the best husband to me and dad to our boys. He just wants to have as much time with them as possible. He wants them to remember him and know how much he loved them. That he fought with everything he had for them. He’s already had to fight through a feeding tube, gruelling chemo cycles, anxiety and continuous setbacks to be here for them. We have survived so much loss, and I can’t let financial barriers stand in the way of doing everything we possibly can for my husband. I am doing everything in my power to protect our children from experiencing the heartbreak of losing their dad.

<div>Dave has faced this with so much dignity, strength and always with a smile on his face while trying to make everyone around him laugh. He isn’t giving up or giving in to his prognosis and is determined to be the exception.
</div>

<div>The immediate priority is to fund the additional cancer treatment Dave's family are pursuing privately, including costs for specialist appointments, scans, biopsies, further testing and travel as they continue to explore the treatment options available.

<div>Any money raised beyond Dave's treatment and medical costs will go directly towards supporting the family, giving Samantha the freedom to step away from work when Dave needs her, without the added worry of how they'll pay the bills.
