<div>Cooper was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) on his third birthday—an incurable, progressive muscle-wasting condition that slowly takes away a child’s ability to walk, move, and eventually even breathe on their own. As of now, Cooper is wheelchair-bound, having already lost the ability to walk.

<div>Despite the daily challenges he faces, Cooper continues to live with courage, humour, and hope. But with DMD comes a very real need: independence and access to life’s everyday moments—doctor appointments, visits with friends, school, and simply enjoying the world beyond our home.

<div>While we are incredibly grateful for the support we receive through government funding—which helps with the adaptation of vehicles for accessibility—it does not cover the purchase of a wheelchair-accessible car. Unfortunately, the vehicle must be nearly new in order to ensure it lasts throughout Cooper’s shortened life expectancy. This is a heartbreaking and significant financial burden we simply cannot manage alone.

<div>In time, I know I will also need to step away from full-time work to become Cooper’s full-time carer. That’s why we’re turning to our community with this fundraiser—to help give Cooper the gift of mobility, dignity, and freedom.
