Help Give Care to Stephen Rigelsky

In February of 2017, my father, Stephen Rigelsky, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Since diagnosis, he has undergone many rounds of chemo, blood tranfusions and infusions, and has been in and out of rehab centers several times. The fight has been long and hard for both him and his family. Though technically in remission, a week of chemo each month has been required to keep him cancer-free. Constant blood tests and infusions are needed to keep his blood functioning as needed. All of this has taken a serious toll on my father's health and spirit; it would for anyone.
Though we have all kept up hope for his healthful recovery, the quality of life for my father has degraded too much to continue the battle. He has decided to end his treatment and enter into hospice care. It's a hard choice to make but my family is here to support him.
My parents are insured through Medicare, which has paid for almost all of my father's treatment. However, they cover next to nothing for hospice care. My parents are retired and in their 70's with a mortgage and bills to pay. Their only real source of income is social security. While my mother is an eBay vendor, she will no longer have the time or means to keep up with sales while my father is home. He will need almost constant care and Medicare will only pay for a nurse to come out three days a week for an hour a day. It's not enough. My sisters and I are helping out where we can but none of us live close enough to help out on a long term basis.
Funds donated through this campaign will help pay for whatever my mother needs to take care of herself and my father. This will be anything from groceries to medical supplies to the power bill. And hopefully, if enough funds are raised, she can afford to hire a nurse to help out more than three hours a week.
My father is an amazing person who has helped so many people over the years. His kindness and giving nature has showed no bounds over my 37 years of knowing him. He has supported myself and my two sisters in our times of need throughout our whole lives. I am the person I am today largely because of him. I know that there are many that have felt the same way.
We don't know how much time we have left with my father. It is not an easy road. However, you can help with even the smallest donation to this fund. Every dollar counts and will be sent directly to my mother to do with as she needs.
