Recently, on March 13, 2019, Gio underwent a new emergency surgery, to remove another SARCOMA tumor in the paravertebral region, which was compressing the marrow and he RISK THE RISK OF BECOMING PARAPLEGIC. Extensive surgery included the placement of bone marrow protection plate and support pins in the affected vertebrae.
THE CURRENT SITUATION IS SERIOUS!
Gio has been bedridden without the movements of his legs since he underwent surgery, and the medical team has informed that it will be a long-term treatment, with intensive physiotherapy to return the movements. He recently underwent a procedure to remove fluids from the lung that had a stroke in the pleura, compressing the lung and making breathing and lung functions difficult. To withstand the pain he makes use of injectable morphine every day.
The surgery is being healed by second intention, with the intensive laser treatment, because the stitches opened and the tissue in the place did not give support for the closing of the surgical cut.
At this stage, Gio needs intensive and advanced treatments to overcome the cancer fight, and as he is bedridden, a great team of professionals such as physical therapist, psychologist, therapists, caregivers, nutritionists, nurses, doctors, are being mobilized for home care.
Every day he takes a lot of drugs, and the vast majority is not provided by the government.
