<div>We are raising funds for our sister and friend, Gillian, who has spent almost 5 years battling cancer
</div>

<div>Gillian was diagnosed with cancer on her 40th birthday and underwent a life saving lobectomy. For two years, we hoped the worst was behind her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But a recent scan revealed that a tumour had gone undiagnosed and had continued to grow in the remaining part of her lung.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Gillian now faces another major, life-saving lung surgery in the ciming weeks involving the removal of more lung and part of her airway. This will have a huge impact on her breathing, independence and everyday life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Her surgery is taking place in Dublin more than 300km from home in Cork. Her family will need accommodation close to the hospital while she undergoes surgery, and Gillian will need somewhere suitable and accessible to recover after discharge, as her current home has only an upstairs toilet and stairs will be extremely difficult for her.

<div>Her partner will also have to take unpaid time away from work to be by her side through surgery and recovery, while the family's normal household bills continue.
</div>

</div>
<div>For the past four years, Gillian has raised thousands of euros for cancer research, campaigned tirelessly for better lung cancer services, travelled across the world to advocate for patients and co-founded the White Ribbon Campaign for Lung Cancer raising awareness on this horrific disease that has the highest mortality rate worldwide.

<div>She has spent years helping others through some of the darkest moments of their lives , always listening, advocating and helping when and where she can

<div>Now, we want to help her.

<div>Every donation, no matter how small, will help take some of the financial pressure away from Gillian and her family and allow them to concentrate on what matters most ,getting Gillian through this surgery and giving her the safest possible recovery.
