About the Volunteers

In the Sunnyside neighborhood, a small group of five self-organized volunteers (including myself) have come together to care for ~15 feral cats in the surrounding area. Each day, one of us provides food, water, and shelter for the cats who call our streets home.

From time to time, new cats—often kittens—arrive. When that happens, we trap, neuter, and return them to prevent more cats from struggling outdoors. These efforts are self-funded by our group, covering spay/neuter surgeries, de-matting, and sometimes—sadly—end-of-life care.

Meet Ghost

Ghost is one of the cats in our neighborhood. He’s a resilient boy, but recently we noticed he was struggling. After trapping him for a much-needed grooming and check-up, the vet discovered he has multiple rotten teeth that are likely causing him constant pain. To restore his health, Ghost needs dental surgery to remove the bad teeth, along with bloodwork and follow-up care.

The cost for Ghost’s treatment is estimated at $1,500, a heavy burden for our small volunteer group.

Meet Tortie

Tortie is another resident alley cat who has been around for several years, surviving some of the most brutal storms and seasons. She's in need of some veterinary attention and will now be able to make a visit to get the care she needs due to exceeding our fundraising goal for Ghost.

Why This Matters

Feral cats like Ghost and Tortie are not native to our environment, and survival on the streets is already difficult. By stepping in, we help give these cats a chance at a healthier, less painful life. With your support, we can relieve their suffering and allow them to continue thriving, cared for and loved by our small group.
