Help get Sharon to Dr Charlie Teo

Dec 2016 our incredible and much loved mum, wife and friend was diagnosed with brain cancer, Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM). She was immediately taken to Monash Medical, Clayton to prepare for life saving surgery to remove a tumour from her brain. The very next morning in an unrelated incident, Sharon suffered a heart attack and she was now preparing for open heart surgery. While in theatre, Sharon had a significant reaction to medication administered and suffered a serious blood infection.

Jan 2017, after 4 weeks recovering Sharon underwent Brain Surgery and 95% of the tumour was removed and as a result, she now has significant paralysis down her right side of her body and requires intensive support from family around her. Sharon is still very much confined to a wheelchair as she is unable to walk any distance without tiring. This is heart wrenching for the family to see our loved one in so much of a fight.

Oct 2017 we had unremarkable results with the cavity walls and remaining tumour collapsing, this was the best news we could have hoped for.

Late Nov 2017 we are now faced with the devastating news that the tumour very quickly returned.

After a lot of tears and heartache coming to terms with the diagnoses of a re occurrence, we have made the decision as a family, to see one of the best Brain surgeons in the world, Dr Charlie Teo in Sydney. We are extremely lucky and overwhelmed to have him and his team on board. However this does come at an extremely large cost of $100,000 upfront, as soon as tomorrow. We also need to cover expenses such as flights/travel, accomodation and support for the family, private patient transport and private fee’s to the hospital for time Sharon may need to spend in ICU following her surgery.
Money is just a figure, our mum, wife and friend is irreplaceable to us.
