Help Get Natalie Back on Her Feet

Donation protected

Natalie and I have been best friends for the past 15 years and I'm creating this page because I feel so helpless with what has happened to her. Let me tell you about her story and the struggle she is facing.
Back in April she gave birth to her 2nd child, a healthy baby girl named Evelyn. The pregnancy was easy with no complications. She was all set and eager to get back to work.
All of that changed 7 weeks after giving birth when she woke up one morning and fell out of bed in pain. Her husband rushed her to the hospital where she was admitted immediately with a DVT blood clot the length of her leg.
Not only was the pain excruciating but she was absolutely terrified. Because she isn't offered insurance through her job, she was on pregnancy medicaid, which expires 6 weeks postpartum. So she only had insurance 2 days in the hospital. The injections mandated for a week cost over $1100. And then a months worth of blood thinners (that she needs for a min of 3 months) are $479.
After about 3 weeks, the pain subsided and she was overly excited to get back to work. However, after 2 days of work as a server, things got bad again. Her ankle was the size of a baseball and within 1 week varicose veins started appearing everywhere, a sign that blood somewhere is blocked and it's trying to find other routes.
So yet again, she was admitted back in the hospital with a clot. They still aren't sure if it's a new clot or it just never dissolved. Her blood work from last time showed she has a gene mutation that means she's genetically prone to these clots.
She now hasn't been able to work for months and their family is greatly struggling on one income. To top it off, last week's Scott's mother passed away. He's already working 60 hour weeks, 7 days a week and then coming home to cook dinner and take care or the kids. She just wants to get back to work. The soonest appt she could get with the hematologists is Aug 18th.
Meanwhile the medical bills are starting to pour in. They've gone through their entire savings. This medicine is not something that can just be optional. Their credit cards are maxed out just trying to pay for food and household bills. I hope anyone can find it in their hearts to donate and literally help her get back on her feet. Any amount would help. If you can't help financially, please share this to get the word out. That would be just as appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. She's my best friend and they need help. She should be able to enjoy those babies instead of worrying about how to survive.
Thank you,
Cyn
